field cordless microscopeField microscopes are sometimes referred to as shop microscopes or cordless microscopes. Shop microscopes are hand-held microscopes that have a single magnification and are available with 20x, 40x, 60x or 100x total magnification. Each microscope is light-weight and has a built-in pen-light for field work. These shop microscopes are often used in the textile industry and for inspection work where measurement is necessary. The shop microscope has a built-in eyepiece reticle for accurate measuring by simply setting the microscope on top of the inspection sample.

Cordless microscopes can easily be used in the field for both dissection and inspection of larger objects, or biological sample inspection. Veterinarians often use cordless field microscopes to examine fecal matter or sperm cells. Additionally, teachers and students sometimes use a cordless microscope for science field trips and biology exploration that is best performed on location.
