Whipple Eyepiece Micrometer for Sedgewick-Rafter Counting Chamber
The Sedgewick-Rafter counting chamber is typically used in the inspection of drinking water. The 50mm x 20mm x 1mm deep cell is made by four polished strips which are cemented to a 75mm x 33mm base. The use of a insoluble cement with methyl alcohol makes it usable for examination of dust particles. The chamber can be hermetically sealed as the chamber has a closed moat. This feature allows it to also be used for the examination of growth in microorganisms. It is recommended to us the Whipple eyepiece micrometer for most applications. The accompanying cover glass is optically plane on both sides to count 16 one square millimeter areas preferably 8 in each chamber.
