Metallurgical Sample Preparation Cutting

Metallurgical sample preparation starts with cutting. Cutting involves using either an abrasive cutting machine or a precision cutter for metallographic samples. Cutting can be performed wet or dry and a cooling system keeps the cutting surface structure of the sample from overheating. Vices are used to hold the sample in the cutting machine and abrasive or diamond cut-off wheels are used for the cutting.
