Human Spinal Cord
This section of spinal cord shows gray and white matter. The spinal cord is a long, tubular bundle of nervous tissue and support cells that extends from the brain. The spinal cord functions primarily in the transmission of neural signals between the brain and the rest of the body.

Smooth Muscle
These teased, isolate muscle fibers have been carefully stained to show pindle-shaped cells with single elongated nuclei. Smooth muscle is a type of non-striated muscle, found within the walls of hollow organs and in areas such as the bladder, uterus, abdominal cavity, GI tract, respiratory tract and iris of the eye.
