Cargille Refractive Index Liquid Series B Sets
Cargille refractive index liquid sets include liquids from series E, B, and M with indices ranging from 1.5000 - 1.8000. Liquids from series E are slightly volatile and required keeping tightly capped. They are supplied with optical constants for F, D, and C lines and are recommended by prominent microscopists who have developed and published these techniques. Liquids from series B are colorless on the low end and increase to a yellow or yellow brown at the high end. Liquids from series M are of a methylene iodide formulation. Indices from 1.740 to 1.780 contain sulfur imparting yellow color. Indices from 1.785 to 1.800 have tin iodide added, for a dark red color. As methylene iodide evaporates, indices from 1.705 to 1.735 decrease in index. Indices from 1.740 and up increase in index and may form crystals. Color refers to appearance when liquid is used in bulk, as liquid is virtually colorless when used in a thin layer. Learn more about refractive index liquids and their uses.
