Zeiss Axio Examiner Research Microscope

The Zeiss Axio Examiner microscope for life science research is a fixed stage microscope for examination and for performing patch-clamp experiments on nerve cells and brain slices. The Zeiss Axio Examiner was optimized for low vibration, generous room for micro-manipulation and patch clamp accessories. Leave running experiments undisturbed by controlling all motorized functions remotely via the docking station or ZEN imaging software.

  • Flexible Stand Design: two lower bodies, four upper bodies and a number of interfaces.
  • Motorization Options: options for z-drive, transmitted light shutter, condenser drive, reflector turret or reflected light shutter. All motors disconnect from the power supply automatically after reaching their target position. Motor-off function gives additional active grounding.
  • Features:
    • Move the objective instead of the sample when focusing on a fixed stage microscope.
    • New LD Plan-APOCHROMAT 20x/1.0 objective allows penetration into intact cleared tissue down to a depth of 6mm on a confocal laser scanning or multiphoton microscope, using the scale technique.
    • Oblique illumination is integrated into every condenser with a modulator disk which can be rotated through 360º.
    • Work with Dodt gradient contrast as an integrated solution to visualize even thick brain sections.
  • Objective Lenses: High-performance objectives especially for high magnifications, for both fixed and live cell imaging applications.
    • W N-ACHROPLAN objectives. These cost-effective water immersion objectives have been especially designed for electrophysiological applications in physiological sodium chloride solutions, which approximate the cell milleu more closely than distilled water.
    • W Plan-APOCHROMAT objectives. This objective series has a sophisticated chromatic and spherical correction and offers outstanding performance. In addition to apochromatic correction in the visible range, the objectives have been corrected for the near infrared range. These are the objectives of choice particularly for multi-photon applications. With their excellent correction and their extraordinarily high numerical apertures, these objectives are appropriate not only for confocal applications, but all applications concerned with capturing as many photons as possible from different wavelength ranges, e.g. for all Multi-channel Fluorescence applications.
  • Ultra-Deep Tissue Imaging: LD Plan-APOCHROMAT 20x/1.0: Ultra Deep Imaging for Confocal Laser Scanning and Multiphoton Microscopy
    • Observer neuron networks in brains that are fully intact: the objective LD Plan-APOCHROMAT 20x/1.0 allows penetration into tissue to a depth of up to almost 6mm and imaging of a sample with excellent sub-cellular resolution.
    • LD Plan-APOCHROMAT 20x/1.0 opens up a new dimension of optical penetration depth into cleared biological samples, particularly into the brains of mammals. Look up to six times deeper into tissue than with a conventional multiphoton microscope and up to 60 times deeper than with conventional laser scanning microscopy.
    • This objective can be used for both laser scanning and multiphoton microscopy. Set up for multi-fluorescence experiments or spectral imaging.
    • Histological cutting procedures become a thing of the past with this objective. Reconstruct tissue elements such as cell groups and cellular components more clearly, faster and more reliably in 3D. There is no need to apply mechanical cuts so you will avoid gaps that could impede or even prevent reconstruction.
