ProgRes® Camera Housing

The ProgRes® cameras have a unique shape for a reason. The unique shape keeps the sensor board separated from the controller board. This prevents any unwanted electromagnetic influence or any other interferences that could result in inferior operation. The unique shape also helps reduce noise which results in higher quality images.

Additionally, the unique shape provides room for the fan in the cooled cameras for advanced research applications. You can learn more about the benefits of using a cooled microscope camera here.
The cameras come in two different colors. The white cameras all have scanning systems included in them. (You can learn more about microscanning here). The black cameras do not include scanning technology.
The image at right shows the c-mount thread on the base of the ProgRes® camera. This is a standard microscope camera mounting thread. Each microscope manufacturer has a corresponding c-mount adapter for their trinocular microscope. The c-mount adapter has a lens built into the adapter that should be matched up appropriately with the chip size in the camera you are purchasing. The c-mount adapter is used to connect the trinocular port of the microscope with the base of the microscope digital camera.
The image at right shows the connection point on top of the ProgRes® camera for the FireWire cable. Firewire IEEE 1394a provides sufficient power for cooling and/or microscanning, and has a guaranteed transfer rate. It provides a one-cable solution for higher power supply (up to 8 W) to the camera. The ProgRes® camera is also compatible with the FireWire 1394b.

All ProgRes cameras can be found on this comparison chart.
